Candy Chang; Before i die
In this video, Candy Chang speaks of how she loved someone and how she ended up losing that person. Due to this, she went through a long period of depression and grief. Although, what happened was that she started to contemplate death a lot but she somehow found some sort of charity in life then. She says that its easy to get caught up in the day to day lives of what means the most to you and how life is too short to worry about. Rather than that you should be enjoying what you have and be with the people who are most important to you. Before she began her project, it almost felt like it was an experiment as she didn't know what to expect, and that is generally life. After receiving permission from the city, she painted on an abandoned house in her neighborhood with chalkboard paint and wrote down "before i die i want to_____." This is basically where anybody who walks up to the chalkboard, they are able to talk and write their dreams and ambitions in life. This is also where they share their personal aspirations in public space and it reflects on their lives very well. What i liked about this video is that it reveals various messages about life. In life of course there are many challenges to confront but that doesn't mean you should give up. The responses on the chalkboard are what made Candy Chang laugh and it has consoled her during hard times. I also believe that the objective of this video has allowed us to understand that contemplating death can be a very powerful aspect in the mind, and this is where it allows a person to restore their perspective about life and it kind of reminds them about things in life which are meaningful and it helps others confront the beauty which comes after tragedies in life when we are all aware.
Alexa Meade; Your body is my canvas
Alexa meade; your body is my canvas
This video basically takes an innovative approach towards art. Instead of sketching and stretching the canvas, she selects a topic and then she paints on it. Her artwork is quiet interest as a matter of fact, even sometimes i feel like as if she is a traditional figure painter. Its almost like she is turning a 2 dimensional artwork into a whole new classical concept of it turning into a 3 dimensions artwork. It feels like she is trying to make her actual models into flat pictures. She paints on the surfaces of of human objects in a way that it looks like it compresses 2D into 3D. Overall, her artwork is very interesting in terms of creativity and realism. This remind of me of one of my research during art class regarding how images, such as my deer project. That website was by an artist who thought that making handmade sculptures could be done by the digital technology.
Pure White paper by Li Hongbo
In this video, Li demonstrated a lot of interesting skills which were then incorporated in her project and together her skills became very useful in her project. Her delicate works of carved soft white paper, carved into soft skull-like objects. At first when i saw this, it felt a bit weird to be doing this kind of experiment. Although, after then i have realized that there was a lot of skills involved within this project. Her ideas regarding the making of the sculpture were quiet interesting and it actually taught me how you can be patient and careful. Therefore it has taught me the essentials of doing you're actual artwork and how it takes a lot of critical thinking.
The night watch; flash mob
Here in this selection, I've seen that its like a play; like idea being shown In a place where a lot of people are present. This video is primarily an example of a flash mob because a bunch of people gather at the same mall and they make the event happen all at a very sudden pace. In this video, i have seen that many people, such as the customers, and even children have a sudden shock and are filed with surprises during that very moment. That moment was dedicated to some event regarding history or spreading awareness of a campaign. I believe that this video was stating the idea of rapidly spreading the message of historical events since it was easily seen that there were people dressed like warriors; by the suit and feather-topped hats. The imagery and he audio has thoroughly expressed the previous historical eras. While watching that mini video clip, i have gained the attention of bringing a museum into life, whereas, i believe that this video shows how people can see an art museum. In the end of the video clip, I've seen that there was a portrait of all of the people who have participated in the run-off. This can be significant towards how art is perceived within the video's motions. I have figured out that the Night Watch is actually a famous work by Rembrandt Harmenszoom. In terms of the artistic aspects to this, this famous work is highly recognized by 3 elements which took place. There is a lot of effectiveness use of light and shadows, the perception of motion is highly common as its revealing its military aspects. One historical fact to prove the military stages in the portrait is that the ideal destination may be due to people/soldiers marching in a filed, those may be involved in a shooting contest, or could be possibly a part of some parade. Visually, i have seen that those people looked a lot like musketeers. Here in this picture, is the exact portrait. The people portray the aspects of previous historical times, since they represent the light by using and holding torches, the reflections of the moon, and the glowing visions connected to the image and the messages of that era. The context of light being used reveals the movements. Even the picture was taken place indoors, there is no light. However, the light-opening was manipulated for its studio purpose and it was to create a dramatically and mythological sightseeing.
Super Intricate Hand-Cut Paper Designs
Hina Aoyama, born in France, made these various designs within paper. Overall, the images above are what she made and how she articulated different designs, such as incorporating laces of thin stripes of paper to create an outstanding new image of fragile artwork. The delicacy of creating designs within designs is extremely fascinating, and caught so much of my attention that i was inspired to take her ideas into consideration. Not that i will make what she made, but i would want to involve and get some inspiration from various artwork. I believe that her fragile artwork has took up a massive amount of time in order to obtain her final results of her work. I am truly inspired by her because her images and even her interviews have shown that she has been constantly putting a lot of extra time into her work, just to receive positive outcomes of the artwork. In my art classes, i have been taking valuable time for getting decent ideas. Her artwork has evoked a lot of nature aspects, and i have seen that butterflies, leaves, plants and trees were highly extraordinary. I feel as if she takes nature into her work a lot, and summarily, i feel like the same person. The nature of art help me express the values which interpret the significance around us. Nature is something i can draw, think, and believe in. Its the world around us which creates an image in our minds and how we will be able to perceive it. Recently, I've been working on my own works of paper art, and because of that, i have successfully completed 2 artworks. 1 work interprets the significance of the Chinese new years, and the second one reveals the idea of valentines day, since i Incorporated a lot of hearts and swirled shaped to romanticize the idea.
Jennifer Maestre; sculptures
Her work is highly recognized for pencil sculptures. This is where she takes hundreds of pencils, which are thoroughly shaped to the fullest and sews them together. Originally, she was inspired by the various functions and forms which involve the sea urchin, and it's properties such as the spine. The alluring texture of the spine has shown that there's direct danger, due to the sharpness of the edges, yet, to Jennifer, it seems much beautiful. The tension of the spines somewhat serve a warning when coming in contact. Its also studied that when these objects are seen, it often causes the desire to push Another thing i found interesting about Jennifer's works is her ethics. Her beliefs are what catches most of my attention. Things such as the aspects of a structure are very much brutal at times, yet, they vulnerability of the sculpture reveals more textures. Even so, she has been experimenting with various techniques evoking new tacky forms of a sculpture, she said that she experimented with pointy things and it has allowed her to use various combinations of materials allowing her to retain the different qualities of work.
Etsy
This is basically a blog-like website where it stores all of people's interests, regarding their own designed handmade, vintage supplies. By exploring this website, i have seen that you are also able to purchase the products which the people have made. In the home page, there is this category of recent favorites and community taste makers. I absolutely love the idea of the pages and how they have made their own categories such as art and design, DIY'Ss lifestyle, fashions etc. Something which i found very valuable and interesting is an account of the owner called, GabriellesGrandson, and he has made remarkable designs into sculptures, art, interior decor, and even for fabric and textiles. I have noticed that his fabrics are outstanding and i strongly believe that his work has displayed cultural aspects. His textiles range from variety of designs and those designs include a vintage disco retro kitsh french cotton textile. This design which exists on it's surface is highly cultural and i am seeing some Indian culture into it as well. This reminds me of my project regarding mendhi and henna. Te designs which re incorporated in henna are relevant to the designs that are on the textile. Flowers, vines, plants are very much recognized as decoration and to represent passion. Another fascinating thing regarding this site is about the description and additional information about the sizes and conditions. I feel as if this site provides me enough knowledge on the products and it is also very informative in this manner.
40-mind boggling shadow art illusions by kay tan
This website has portrayed a lot of the aspects about the art of different shadow techniques and how it is used by various artists, into a work of its own creative process. It shows how light can be reflected off even by the most opaque objects where it casts a light. Here, shadows can be manipulated to resemble entirely different shapes and designs the way it was from its model. For instance a stack of blocks along with such toys can visualize a whole new concept of design. This is the kind of artwork represented by the shadows of light.
The blue tree
The idea of having to distinct natural objects is quiet unique and when i read throughout this artist' artist statement, i have learned how natural has become one of his inspirations and it instructs you to develop your own mind of life when he uses biologically safe mineral pigments.
